Montgomery the Moose

Montgomery the Moose enjoys a late afternoon snack

While heading up Route 100 north to visit some friends, we came upon "Montgomery" the moose enjoying a late afternoon snack in the wetlands across from the Green Mountain National Golf Course. The moose was named "Montgomery" by a young resident whose driveway we pulled into to take the picture. Turns out Montgomery has a mate, "Mary", who gave birth recently to a yet to be named calf. If we can get a picture of the three of them together, we will post it asap.

Play was briefly delayed today at the Green Mountain National Golf Course to allow a large male moose to saunter across the 1st and 9th fairways. The moose was obviously trained in good golf etiquette as it followed the cart paths and used the 90 degree rule while crossing fairways. Practice at the driving range was also interrupted. None of the golfers on the course appeared to object to the delays caused by the moose sighting.

Killington Resort resumes summer operation

K1 gondola carrying mountain bikers to Killington peak over the July 4th 2005 weekend.

The Killington Ski Resort sprang back to life over the July 4th weekend with the K1 gondola providing base to peak lift service. With the weather over the 4th being spectacular, many hikers, mountain bikers, and tourists took advantage of the opportunity to ride to the highest lift service mountain peak in Vermont. The K1 is scheduled to operate Thursday thru Sunday during the summer months of 2005.

Gardens at Sherburn Public Library

Gardens in bloom at Killington

As summer gets into full swing, the gardens in the Killington area are coming into peak bloom. Traveling around town, many gardens have hit their summer stride with the recent hot and damp weather. A great example is the garden of the Sherburne Public Library located on River Road in Killington. This garden was designed and maintained by a friend of the library: local Killington resident, George Lyons.

Hi! We are Bill Vines and Mary Furlong, residents of Killington Vermont and we would like to introduce you to our latest project: killingtonblog.com.

killingtonblog.com will primarily focus our observations and experiences with life in Killington. As both us us are into the outdoors, much of what you will read will include information on local sports and activities. Some will relate to our personal interests, Mary is passionate about flowers for example. We will also provide information on what is happening around town including plans to construct a village at Killington. And of course, there is the ongoing political situation in Killington, both local ,it is a really small town after all, and within the State of Vermont...or is it New Hampshire if you have been following the news.

Feel free to contact us to give us feedback or make a contribution to the content of this site. We hope that you will enjoy our experiment with the internet and come back to read about life in Killington often.
